The Canterbury Cup.

An 8-week Rugby 7s competition bringing Canterbury-Bankstown schools together at Wills Ground — built for complete beginners, run during school hours, backed by NSW Rugby.

Growing the next generation of rugby in Canterbury.

The Canterbury Cup is a proposed 8-week Rugby 7s competition for primary and secondary schools across the Canterbury-Bankstown region, delivered in collaboration with NSW Rugby, Canterbury Rugby Union Club, and Canterbury-Bankstown Council.

The competition is centrally hosted at Wills Ground, Earlwood, and delivered during allocated school sport / PSSA time — minimising disruption to school schedules while making it easy for any school to take part, with or without an existing rugby program.

NSW Rugby supports the program with coaching, safety frameworks and inclusive participation for every experience level, and a prize pool rewards participating schools through vouchers.

Player Pathway

Where it leads.

The Cup isn’t a one-off — it’s the first step on a path from a school hall to representative rugby. Students who enjoy their first taste of Rugby 7s at school have a clear, supported route into Canterbury Rugby Union Club’s own Juniors and Seniors programs, and from there into regional and state pathways.
